Through a partnership with End Rape on Campus (EROC), we are sharing their Organizing Toolkit for Students with our viewers. In this free packet put together by their team of experienced organizers and policy-changers, you will find materials for effective student organizing. This includes information on creating events that hold space for a diversity of survivors, understanding your school’s Title IX stakeholders, strategizing a response to violent or dismissive behaviors in response to organizing actions, analyzing media portrayals of sexual violence, and facilitating pathways for healing and change for survivors and their communities on campus with an eye on policy reform.
You might also check to see where your institution falls on their Campus Accountability Map here. From EROC: “Over the past few years, survivors of campus sexual violence across the country have banded together like never before to support one another, and to shift our culture to one of safety and respect. But whether it’s redefining consent or pressuring schools to conduct annual campus climate surveys, this new generation of advocates knows that transparency is the key to creating meaningful, long-term change. That’s why we created the Campus Accountability Map, a project to empower students and inform communities. We’ve already seen the power of transparency in action — just in the past five years, survivors have begun to break the silence about institutional cover-ups and hold their institutions accountable under Title IX, spurring institutions to change their ways or risk scrutiny in the public eye. End Rape on Campus is proud to be leading this movement alongside survivors, advocacy organizations, and our indispensable allies.”
